The capital city also serves as the land, sea and air transportation hub of the province, so all the visitor desinations can be reached from there.
One of the most popular attractions of the province can be found in the rich waters of Tanon Strait off Bais City, where guests cruising on outrigger boats can have a close encounter with these playful mammals.
Back on the shore visitors can make a quick trip to the Central Azucarera de Bais to get a feel of the cradle of the sugar industry in the province, and take picture-perfect snapshots of steel locomotives that ferried sugar cane across the vast hacienda.

Niludhan Falls is the most popular attraction of Bayawan, with three falls merging into one powerful cascade after heavy rains.
A popular destination of mountain climbers and trekkers, Canlaon City, situated on the eastern foot plain of Mt. Canlaon, sits at the boundary dividing both provinces of Negros Island.
Tanjay is best know for the native delicacy called Bodbod Tanjay, made of glutinous rice and native chocolate, around which their main festival is based. It is also where San Isidro Hot Springs is located, a favorite watering hole of residents and visitors alike.

Historic Valencia is a town just a few kilometers west of Dumaguete that is home to the many waterfalls, such as Casaroro Falls, Pulang Bato Falls and Kalungan Twin Falls, plus nature camps and World War II relics.

Zamboanguita, apart from being a main access point to Apo Island (which belongs to Dauin, by the way), is also popular for the Malatapay Fish & Livestock Market held every Wednesday.

Negros Oriental has a total of five cities and 20 municipalities, each with their own particular charm, festivals and places of interest. The other municipal-ities are: Amlan, Ayungon, Basay, Bindoy, Guihulngan City, Jimalalud, La Libertad, Manjuyod, Pamplona, San Jose, Sibulan, Sta. Catalina, Tayasan and Vallehermoso.
It is best to explore the province by area, especially those with many tourist attractions, to be able to see and experience the wonderful island life as much as possible during your visit.
The Sidlakang Negros Village in Dumaguete City showcases the different pavilions of the local government units of the province. It is suggested that this be one of your first stops upon arrival as it is a great place to preview the different cities and towns, as well as their culture, cuisine and products. It is also a wonderful place to shop for souvenirs coming from all parts of the province.
